An artistic interpretation of the tasting notes found in our Ledaig/ Tobermory 18yo Single Malt

Hey everyone,

We’re incredibly excited to share the story behind our latest release at Living Souls – the rare and exquisite 18-year-old Ledaig single malt. As a start-up, our mission is to craft exceptional spirits while fostering a community of passionate whisky enthusiasts. We believe that each bottle should tell a story, and this one is particularly special.

The Inspiration Behind Our Whisky

Our 18-year-old Ledaig whisky is a liquid that embodies the essence of the Scottish countryside. Imagine yourself standing outside a cottage, nestled amidst towering mountains, with smoke gently billowing from the chimney. The air is crisp, carrying the scent of fresh apples and smoky tones, harmoniously merging with the rustic outdoors. Each sip of this whisky is designed to transport you to this tranquil scene, capturing the serene beauty of nature and the rich heritage of Scottish whisky making.

The Legacy of Ledaig and Tobermory Distillery

Ledaig, pronounced “Le-chayg,” is a single malt produced at the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull. Founded in 1798, Tobermory is one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland, with a rich history and a dedication to traditional whisky-making methods. The distillery produces two distinct styles of whisky: the unpeated Tobermory and the peated Ledaig.

What makes our release truly rare and remarkable is the combination of both these single malts. By blending the robust, smoky character of Ledaig with the subtle, fruity notes of Tobermory, we’ve created a whisky that offers a unique and complex flavor profile. It’s a harmonious combination that showcases the best of both worlds, making it a treasure for any whisky explorer.

The Art and Craft of Living Souls Whisky

At Living Souls, we see whisky making as an art form. Beyond the meticulous science of production lies the inexplicable magic of flavor creation. For this 18-year-old Ledaig, we used a combination of refill butts and hogsheads to age the spirit, allowing it to develop deep, layered flavors over time. The result is a beautifully balanced whisky, non-chill filtered and with its natural colour preserved, ensuring an authentic and pure tasting experience.

But our dedication doesn’t stop at the whisky itself. We’ve also put great care into the presentation, with artwork that reflects the peaceful, pastoral scene we aim to evoke. Each bottle is a masterpiece, designed to invite you to take a moment to relax and enjoy the finer things in life.

Why We Do What We Do

So, why did we choose to create this particular blend? We wanted to honor the rich heritage of the Tobermory Distillery while offering something new and exciting for our community of whisky explorers. This 18-year-old Ledaig is a tribute to the timeless beauty of the Scottish countryside and the enduring art of whisky making. We believe that every bottle tells a story, and this one speaks of tradition, craftsmanship, and the serene beauty of a rustic cottage in the Highlands.
